Full-size Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars » 59 Galaxie rear bumper stone deflector » June 23, 2019 6:17 am

I'm replacing the rear bumper and the rubber stone deflector.  The one from Carpenter is not exact.  Oh well.
QUESTION:  Once it is installed from the center out, how are the ends of it trimmed by the phillips head screw?
The original was all broken...too far gone to use as a templet.

I waited a couple of days with no reply from anyone.  Therefore, before the rechormed bumper was bolted into
place, I snipped off the ends with a sissors.  Unless I stick my nose down into that area, whose to know if
the cutting was correct or not.  The rechormed bumper really looks snazzy.....for a total cost of $250.

Thank you.   Other projects include installing the correct ..short.. sun visors,  R&R the rear bumper and grill.
I found a perfect rechromed rear bumper on ebay for $225. + USPS and a perfect grill on ebay for $85.
The best time to shop is right after Christmas.  No one has any money to spend on car parts.

Ref. 59 Galaxie cruisomatic;  I was told that it can be adjusted.  On cold starts, I can not find the sweet spot
for the shift lever.

My iron is #161 &  #162.  I'm an old fart of 70.  My first car was a 59 Galaxie 4-door sedan black in 1967.
The F-150 has a 390, C-6, factory air and a Ford cap.   I installed a Ford stereo & 8-track tape.  I made a large
wood  pie-shipped speaker enclosure that fits behind the seat.  I guy gave me a pair of heavy 6 x 9 speakers.
My huge collection of 8-tracks sound great.  When the tape separates, I toss it.  Life is good.

What happened to the XL wheel covers and the white strip tires?  The car looks sharp.

Full-size Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury cars » Ford 4100 carb problems » July 29, 2017 7:05 pm

Thank you for your prompt reply.   I left my email address with Rock Auto.  They are out of stock.  Other 4100s
are very expensive.  My Bumper to Bumper wants well over $300.  Advance has no listing.  4100s on
line are also well over $300.  I'm  not touching it until Wed. or so to swap it back for the sweet Holley.
The stock carb. has steel lines running to it.  The Holley has rubber tubing.    Ya see,  I intend on meeting Mr.
Carini and showing off our beautiful 59 Galaxie soft top.  The blue parts on the engine were powder coated
in the correct shade of light blue.  Snazzy?  (I forgot his first name.)
