59 Galaxie rear bumper stone deflector

I'm replacing the rear bumper and the rubber stone deflector.  The one from Carpenter is not exact.  Oh well.
QUESTION:  Once it is installed from the center out, how are the ends of it trimmed by the phillips head screw?
The original was all broken...too far gone to use as a templet.

I waited a couple of days with no reply from anyone.  Therefore, before the rechormed bumper was bolted into
place, I snipped off the ends with a sissors.  Unless I stick my nose down into that area, whose to know if
the cutting was correct or not.  The rechormed bumper really looks snazzy.....for a total cost of $250.
