I had an idea that just hit me Friday.   Here goes.    LtdII brakes.   Once they are installed, if there are any alignment issues,  modify the upper control arm with a screw in ball joint and ring, and move it inboard on the arm.   I looked at some pictures of upper control arms, it looks as if there is room to accomplish that.   I guess one could actually do the same thing to the bottom, but I did not look at those arms to see if there was space to move outward.  I remember you really modifying some arms...

Anyways, my thoughts...

I was finally getting around to  getting the 1969 LTD. spindles on the front of the Galaxie.  Had all the parts gathered...blah blah blah.  Then the realization came.  My 14" Torque Thrust D wheels don't fit over the brakes.   So where do I go from here?

My choices:  I have a set of 76 Ford Granada spindles.  I have a set of 77 LtdII spindles.  The set of 1969 ltd spindles.  And of course the stock 63 spindles.  Some conversion for those like scarebird?

I guess another option would be to buy 15" torque thrust ds.   Got lots of parts and a big mess!

My 63 four door hardtop read axle had the small axle bearings.  My 63 convertible has large bearings.   I was actually wondering if it was a small block/big block thing.  But I would bet the wagon if still stock had large bearings.   Problem is after all these years you never know if it had a replacement fear put under it.  You really need to measure the axle retainer studs to know without taking it apart.

I was wanting to just top of off but I think I may go the hard way flush it out a bit and put on new lines while I'm there.  I noticed the lines are the exact same as a mustang convertible, so I have some new ones for another project.  Then I will know what is in it and I will clearly mark it as such by the full hole.

1963 ford Galaxie convertible.   What is the general consensus on what fluid to use to top it off?  Book says type A.

Does anyone know offhand if the 1963 Galaxie steering columns have the stiff spring directly behind the steering wheel?   Anyone have an expanded diagram?   If these cars have the spring, apparently, Ive lost both of them somehow.

I was interested in the custom overdrive automatic they put in there.  They mentioned Monster transmission, but I went to their website and couldnt find anything they made to fit on the FE.     I want more info on that.

You may have a hard time accepting this answer, but you can research it for validation.  The expansion tank is not meant to be full.  It is called expansion tank for a reason.   It is meant to a space that gets filled as the water heats up and contracts as it cools down.  Other forums I have read about this, suggest not refilling the tank, and it will find it's "happy medium" on it's own.  That could be half a tank or even less.  As long as you can see fluid in it you are good.  Fill it, let it burp out the excess, and after it stops burping fluid is the right fill level for your engine.  This is provided there are no other known or unknown problems.

here is a picture of the hose, it came in from the Rock today.  And the wrong hose with the screw end.  They all say that fits, but that is clearly for a drum brake car.

It is 2 inches longer than the original, application 1983 E 100   H 80976 and H80975  There is a left and right as you can see they are slightly offset.

And here is what the obsolete originals (still supplied by a specialty brake company)  look like. Along with their specialty price.  LOL   10.41 for 2 of the above from Rock Auto shipped.
