Has anyone done an Electric power steering conversion on a 60 -64 Galaxie?
My 62 wagon is manual steering, I can drive it, but the electric power conversion would be interesting.
I have done a few project that used wreaking yard parts,  R470w behind my "351c"
changed over to a 130amp alternator again wreaking yard..
  Did a  F150 disc break conversion on my 56 Packard... 79 150..
might consider doing an electric steering ot the Packard...

Hello
This is an update on my 62 Country Sedan
A new aquiantice of mine is a welder by trade and has assisted me in the installation of a floor pan in the
wagon. along with some sheet metal fabrication..
One thing is that I learned a little about welding and can do some good welds... and fabrication.
Damn if he even discovered how the "third" seat works, Which in truth is not a seat at all but
two foam pads that you have to install, each time you want to use it.. !!!!!!
If anyone has a 62 especially if you live in Ca  let me know
Best
Dave

So my computer decided to delete my  62 Galaxy shop manual, I had downloaded it  in PDF format around 4 years ago.
I remember emailing a copy to a member or posting the website to download it.
Do any of you have the 62 shop manual.. yes I can buy them all over the net for $10 - 55,
I'm just damn cheap. My download was legal. the manual was in public domain.
If you have a PDF file, I could use a copy.
Best
PS: Does anyone here even have a 62 Country Sedan, with a third seat?

Hi Dan

It's a SOHC... and he tells me it does not have the PAT system. He also was telling me that
these motors have a problem with the rocker arm staying on the valve stem, never heard of that one...
but he has a way of exaggerating
I"ve not seen the car. He came by the other night and just in general conversation  he's thinking of
keeping it now... go figure. in truth I don't need another project and that $400 would be way out of my
wallets depth, even it the motor and trans was free..

So how is the 61 with the 4.6.. which trans did you use?

I appreciate your input thanks for the reply

I"ve been offered a 4.6L out of a 97 Lincoln, with the trans.
  free is free
my first question is the "passive anti theft system". is a part of the computer I can do without?
 is it a separate computer?

I was thinking it might be a nice setup for my 56 Packard...

Another question the air ride, has anyone heard of these being used in other cars, hot rods, etc:
I'm really not familiar with that setup..

Thanks Daze
Sorry took so long replying to this post of mine.
Like a lot of things... when an idea hits, it's usually because we don't know the answer..
Yours seems  to be right on.

Hi 70XL

  Thats what I'm saying...
Everyone should remember that before there was big auto companies,  cars were built in
peoples garage... even Henry Ford...
Did you know that GM did not event the automatic transmission, 2 men in Brazil invented it.
GM bought it from them...
or that in the 30's Ford built car trunk lids with Plastic made from soybean...
Like I always tell people there is nothing new in automobiles from 100 year ago except computers..
  everything else is evolution...
Hemi engine was invented in 1904 in Michigan and the 1905 Pipe. used it in Belgium

It's just  thinking.
most of the cost is very cheap... COP for Fords are all over the wreaking yards so are the   12v wire loom
It's firing the coils without a computer that is the issue...
I'm not saying I would just junk what I have, but  I find the idea interesting..
BTW it has been done, but not the way I am presenting it...
they used the pickup and an ECU..

high All

I've seen a lot of interest on the net of converting the older Distributor style to  a coil on plug..

I did some reading and it's $$$$ as there are a couple of kits on the net.

there are man reasons for the COP,  less wire, less voltage loss, variable timing, etc.
But you need a ECU to run the COP

But why...  we use a distributor to transmit high voltage to the plug.
What if you we were to use say some type of  12v magneto.  with a redesigned cap just for the
low voltage wires used on Ford COP system.  Then each coil would receive just 12v  and the coil will
boot the voltage.
the. new designed distributor would be much smaller, design it without a rotor or the. big cap..
any thoughts... I'm just sitting here watching the BarrettJackson auction, was thinking about the COP.
Like to hear from anyone...

Is the filter like a "sock"  just slips over the tube? If so
   I'd just  use a ( Zip Tie)
or a very small clamp...
