Identify this radiator

DEP  C3AE  8005  Z

I suspect the dep is some kind of manufacturer identification.

Its a downflow radiator 24 inches wide by 23 from bottom to top cap.

24"wX 171/2"h  core size.

Want to find a good replacement, that also has a fan shroud.

Thinkin maybe a 68 Mustang??

Idears pleaz

Re: Identify this radiator

yeah, I believe it to be the stock radiator in my Galaxie.  It is 24 inches wide, and it is supported by rubber mounts on the top and bottom.

The replacement radiator shows the core only to be around 20 inches wide, and any pictures Ive found show it has flange mounts.  And it also fits later model Galaxies.

Now, I realize this isnt necessarily a problem, but I was wondering if someone possibly swapped a TBird radiator in or something.   Just weird that nothing really comes up with that part#  (I am POSITIVE that is the number on the side of it)   Just may be one of those quirky things that Ford changed the design a bit for 65, and the new one actually fits length wise, so this wider radiator just became obsolete because the aftermarket didnt support it.

I want a good fan shroud anyways, Im quite sure I can shoehorn in a 1968 24" wide Mustang radiator, as its 24" wide, and only about an inch shorter overall.

Its kind of one of those things,  either give up some on the side, or give up a little on the top,  or I have even thought about taking it to Portell radiator, since hes close (and a friend)   but I still havent found a shroud that fits this radiator anyhow.

Ive just about got myself talked into the Mustang radiator

Re: Identify this radiator

There are lots of 63 aluminum radiators on ebay for a great price.  This part of your part # means it is from a 63 of some sort C3AE the c means six the 3 means three.  Does your gall have an auxiliary tank in the top with a cap in it or is the radiator cab part of the radiator.  I believe all the galaxies through 64 had such a tank.  if your radiator has the cap as part of the radiator than it is not a galaxie radiator.

Re: Identify this radiator

this is a downflow radiator with a cap.  No tank.

I thought only the big blocks had a tank set up?   Ive never seen a small block with a tank.

I knew C3AE is a 63 number.   8005 is Ford standard for radiators.  A  B  C  designates the model.    I cant find a listing for Z.

Thats why I was wondering if it was TBird related.   No telling what previous owners did.

I splurged on a 24" wide aluminum radiator and fan shroud for a Mustang today.   I didnt really want to go aluminum, but oh well, there aint nothing stock on it anyways.

Edit:  http://www.coolcraft.com/ford-galaxie-1964-65-v8-260-289-radiator.html  At least I found that bad boy!   I wonder why all the books and listings show a narrower radiator for 1963?

My bad.  They must have changed that in 63.  In 62 all the y-block cars and in line 6 cars had the tank so  I just assumed it continued through 64.  I think they did away with the tank in 65.  Glad you fond something that will work.  I love my aluminum radiator.  In fact I don't think I will ever replace a radiator with a brass one again.

Re: Identify this radiator

Opening my present this morning, the radiator is equally as wide and about an inch shorter overall than the original.

The radiator hose openings are off by about 2" on top and 5" on bottom.    (hopefully Mustang hoses will work, I hate those universal hoses)

The top of the tank has a nice little dent in it...

Overall, Im pleased.  I think I can make this work!
