Hello, so I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie 500 I bought a couple years ago, I bought a parts car for it for $900, mostly because I wanted the 390 engine. I sent the engine to get redone, as I am more of a body guy, and I put 2 grand into the engine being redone. Now the mechanic says it has 428 heads, and I have been toying with the idea of selling my galaxie, but I have no idea what a 390 with 428 heads costs? Could anyone help me out with an estimate?

I am not 100% sure as I am not as familiar with FE engines but I thought the 390 and the 428 used the same heads, in other words nothing special about the heads. As to the value a fully rebuilt engine is probably worth about $3000 but it really depends on the market you live in and the demand.
