Sticking my nose back in

hello all
I'm Dave, was really into this and other Ford forums for awhile, then about a year or so ago, I just
got tired of it all... Now I'm getting back into my cars, want to get them all up and running, maybe
sale one... a 74 dodge dart swingger...

My Ford is a 62 Country Sedan (wagon)  9 passanger, how they could ever call that a 9 passanger
is beyond me... I met a few guys at some of the car shows here in SoCal who did not know their wagon
was a 9 passanger..
I swapped in my 351c and it fit nice, just needed the right mounts. behind it sits the Ford 4R70w
I used the bauman controller.. I'm running an electric fan. I guess the 335 block is a bit longer then
the FE block.. The car is still in the driveway.. the floor pan was really just swiss cheese, so I found
a good floorpan from a 4dr which is the same except for the last 18" which is different and needs some
metal bending.. I stayed with the same interior color which is blue, but changed the seat patterns and
material to a cloth\vinyl.  The wagon had 4 wheel drum, with manual steering.. I took the front  spindles off
my old 77 Ranchero and installed them, disc braks, I found an origina power booster and had it rebuilt here
in LA, and its in the car, and i'm using a master cylinder from a Ford crown Vic  changed all the
brake lines out to Armour very easy to bend, don't need a tool..  So I'm getting ready to gut the front section
of the pan out, and install the front two section, then have a body man do the third section and some
rust in the fender area's.
Someone asked my about the trans angle, I leveled the engine and left the tranny sit like that, the
pinion angle is a different thing...
As for the 4R70w,  the two main things I need to install are the TPS (throttle possiitoning sensor)
and the shift linkage. I took the cable from a mustang, but it is very long, and i really want to use the
column shifter. so that needs to be worked out.
two small things is, 1 installing a roof rack, I have the runners but no side tubes or end pieces
the side tubes I can buy SS in 1"
the other is a clock, I found one, but it had burned on the inside,
is there anyone repairing those old clocks, I think I'd really like to go the quartz movment instead of that
contact system..
So I think that brings me up to date, and for some of you who sent me private messages,,sorry I did not
reply...
about instlaling the 4R70w... It might be more common now, I got the idea off of another Ford forum...
he to changed out the engine as the FE all used a round bolt pattern...
  Best

Re: Sticking my nose back in

Dave,
Welcome back and good for you for getting back at er! Sometimes stepping away for a while is just what the doctor ordered!
As far as the shift linkage between the 4r70w and stock column sifter, check out my old posts. I came up with a simple solution using the stock Crown Vic cable on my 61. Might save you some head scratching. If you use a stock Crown Vic cable however, you have to address the reverse shifting pattern that will occur. In other words, when you think you are in park you are actually in 1st gear and likewise when you think you shifted into first gear, you will actually be in park. I also addressed this in one of my old posts. I'm  thinking with the Mustang cable, if you are able to bring that cable from the rear of the car onto the transmission linkage, the column shifter will be orientated correctly. Didn't try this myself.

No experience with these that I found via a search engine:
