Anyone who has upgraded from drum brakes to disc should know the answer to my question. My question is for my 1967 Gal, how is the anchor pin attached to the front back plate and/or the spindle, press fit or threaded. There is a bolt that goes from the back of the spindle into the anchor pin area, and the anchor pin has about a1 1/4 " nut on the pin itself that is machined into the pin. The anchor pin is the pin in the top middle of the brake shoe assembly that the shoes pivot on. My research calls is a "pin". My assumption is that it is threaded, but I do not know for sure and I do not want to destroy it to find out. How it is assembled will help me know how to proceed with disassembly, big hammer, torch, socket etc.

Problem solved. I cleaned the part very well and could barely distinguish a thread. That told me that the nut was a nut and that it was not part of the anchor pin. I applied heat to it and turned it off. You must use a cutting torch the get enough heat in it quickly because of mass of metal would sap away any other heat source to quickly for it do you any good. The nut is 1 1/4" across the flats. I just did not know where the threaded joint was until I cleaned it well.
