68 Galxie motor swap

Does anyone know what motor mounts I will need to use, my 68 Galxie 5oo convertible has a 460 in it now and I am trying to put a 79 Windsor in it now.

Re: 68 Galxie motor swap

The most obvious should be small block engine mounts. These cars were all available with a small block, so the mounts should be available from any parts store, or junk yard donor that came with a small block.

Most guys would probably want to go from the SBF to the 460, not the other way. Why are you making the change?

Re: 68 Galxie motor swap

I would stay 460. Tons of parts and performance potential and the kind of torque that the sbf wouldn't make without stroking which would be more long run money than building the 460.

The other obvious thing will be transmission. The bell housing is different between the two.

I am also curious about why you are going small in such a big car. The only reason I have a 289 in mine is it is the original engine. Otherwise I would have a nice FE in it.
