temp sender location

Hello fellow Galaxie lovers,
I have a 63 1/2 500 XL fastback black on black with a T-10 and a 428 engine out of a 67 Thunderbird.
I took the electric temperature sender out of the front of the intake manifold and installed the mechanical type. Now I am curious to know if there is a way to hook up both gauges, electric and mechanical. Is there another place that can be used for the electric sender?  Thanks for lookin' at my post.

Re: temp sender location

Thread about tees of various flavors here; be sure to note the need to possibly add a ground depending on how you plumb the original electrical sensor..

or about inserting one into the heater hose:

Keep us posted; I'll be interested if what you do.  My dad had a nice S-W mechanical oil pressure and coolant gauge set installed on my '63 back in the early 70s; still works great and we merely accepted that the original gauge has been off the job all these years.

Re: temp sender location

I had the same problem with my 61 Sunliner with a 352. I installed an aftermarket gauge to keep better track of the engine temps but now had a dead factory gauge with no place on the factory intake for the factory sending unit. I wound up threading the factory sending unit into one of the drain holes at the bottom of the block. I don't know how accurate it is in that location bit it seems to mimic the after market gauge and isn't just sitting there doing nothing. Just make sure you measure how much depth you have in the drain hole so you don't bottom out the sending unit.
