Hi all!
I live in the mountains and love to take my 68 Galaxie 500 4-door on the curvy mountain roads. However, it handles like you would expect. I have to drive very slowly I often end up with a line of cars behind me. I would like to upgrade the suspension to help it handle better. I wondered where you all find your parts for performance upgrades. I have only had my car for 6 months. I have had limited success with finding restoration parts but no luck as far as upgrades are concerned. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Addco should have upgraded sway bars, you'll want a bigger one on front and add one to the rear. You'll need all new suspension bushings. Energy Suspension should have poly-urethane bushing that should work, but new stock rubber bushings will be a huge improvement over the old. New springs and shocks would also be in order and a new wheel and tire package could help.
You won't find a complete kit for these cars. Hotchkis had prototyped a system with Jay Leno for his 66 7 litre, but I don't know if that ever came to market. If it did it will be very pricey. There was a good thread on suspension upgrades over on Ford Muscle Forums a few years ago, so you could check that out.

Agreed a swaybar upgrade will make a huge improvement. p-s-t.com has complete front end rebuild kits and sway bars.

PST has some quality rebuilds. Have used their stuff more than once. I DO tend to stay away from poly bushings because of the noise . Upgraded front sway bar, adding a rear will help immensely. As will better shocks, the KYB excel shock is right between stock and the gas adjusts. Not as firm as gas adjusts, but firmer than stock but still comfortable. New springs, and insulators will help too.
I will be going the new sway bar route soon on my '65 2 door. Already went with the KYB excels and they helped a bit. My bushings are still like new, so not going there yet. If I get mine done before you, I'll put up a post with how much the bars helped. I know going with an upgraded 1 1/8 bar, and adding a 3/4 bar in the rear of my '68 Cougar turned it into a slot car through the twisties. As did adding a leaf in the rear and replacing the fender braces with an export brace. But they are two VERY different cars.

Thanks for the excellent advice. This helps a lot! Hopefully I can work on it in the not so distant future.
