Bad earth?

Hi. Been having trouble with fuel gauge. When key is turned on the needle goes only to the middle of the E. Could this be a bad earth problem or does it sound like the sender unit is knackered?

Re: Bad earth?

Could be the float has developed a leak and has fuel in it; also could be a failing sender. Grounding the sender wire should make the gauge read full IIRC; that would eliminate the gauge as the culprit. If the reading fluctuates while the key is on, look to the IVR.
