Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and was hoping somebody could help me out. I have a 1967 Galaxie 500 convertible and just changed the transmission from the cruise-o-matic to a C6. I wanted to paint the transmission the original factory color. Does anybody know what color a 1967 C6 transmission would have been painted at the factory

After reading some posts and being the newbie that I am I figured I should update my post. The factory transmission in my Galaxie was a MX (factory code “Y). I am building the engine and wanted a more heavy duty transmission, I have been told the C6 would fit my build and is an easy swap (yet to be determined since it has not been installed yet). I have added a shift kit and will be using a higher stall torque converter (1800-2200). Since I am painting the engine the factory color blue I wanted to make sure the transmission was also painted the factory color.

I'm not sure about your '67, but the C6 in my '77 LTD II was just the aluminum color, not even painted.

The transmissions were not painted from the factory. Clean up the aluminum and clear coat it to maintain the factory fresh look longer, or paint it any colour you wish, if you want to paint it. When I did my trans I painted the cast iron body of my FMX engine colour and put a little clear on the aluminum bell housing and tail shaft.
