Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

The a.c. installation pictures I have are from 59 Galaxies found on eBay. Several so far.  I have not requested
more pictures from the sellers.  They just want me to bid on their cars. i.e. this forum.  Perhaps someone
out there has done this work.  Perhaps...Perhaps.

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

Good for you Daze, quit wasting your time...absolutely! Not the first time this guy has made comments in a negative tone on this forum. You are trying to be helpful and he doesnt even appreciate it!
He is adding A/C to a car that didn't come with that option, so anyway he installs it, it won't be factory original, so what's the big deal? Why wouldn't you try to be as close as practical? With everything in that engine bay, drilling holes in the firewall is going to be limited due to access. I really doubt someone is gonna look under the hood of that car and make some comment how the A/C lines aren't going thru the firewall in the precise factory location.
I just spent five years restoring my car. I had lots of questions and didn't always get answers. So, I just had to make decisions I felt I would be happy with! It's that easy!

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

My Galaxie is not just a sedan.  It's a real sharp Sunliner.  The nice ones draw the big bucks.  You can shave in
your reflection of the black paint.  The interior is to factory specs.  The original padded dash is perfect.  I ditched
the edelbrock intake and dented chrome valve covers.  59 Fords did not have prepunched holes for the ac hoses
in the firewall.  The hoses run under the edge of the left fender......the drivers side.  I have factory drawings
showing that too.  A couple of close up pictures would help.  That's all I requested.
I also ditched the 15" rims and tires.

My thoughts as well.

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

I understand that I hurt someone's feelings.  Please forgive me.
I also understand that this Forum is not geared for the owners of older STOCK Galaxies.  No one with
a 59 equipped with factory a.c. has replied.  I hunch that a majority of the Galaxies are older then the owners.
This Sunliner is my 4th 59 Ford since 1967.  Add to that  a 61 Galaxie in the middle.  ALL STOCK.
I bought a 75 F-150 a few years back.  Gone is the fat steering wheel, 8" wide tires on spoked rims
and the Smitties with straight pipes out the side.
Enjoy your fat tires, custom rims, headers etc.  That's not by bag.

This is not an issue of stock vrs modified.  If it were I would have told you that I didn't think Ford ran the lines in the best place and that you should move them.  I didn't do that instead I tried to help do some research for you and support your desire to remain stock.

As to what the forum os about, it is not stock or modified ALL are welcome, even those that piss off the forum owner

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

Understood.  Now we just wait.
There is a twin to my black  Sunliner on eBay with factory a.c.   I asked him to take a couple of pictures of the
a.c. hoses at the fire wall under the edge of the left fender.
I have a fat book of factory drawings.  One page can be removed.  It has the cut out that can be taped to the
fire wall.  I hunch that the left fender must be removed.  Ouch.

Question;  Does anyone have a 3-belt fan pulley for a 352 or a 390 engine?  That's the last item I need.

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

I have a three belt fan pulley off of a 352. It is not for sale, but I am willing to post pictures to assist you in your search. Perhaps Ford used these in other vehicles and various years? You may find something at a salvage yard that may be similar to the one in the picture. Part number stamping appears to be C1AE 8509-B.(Th"E" might be a "B". Hard to tell for sure.

Re: ref. 59 Galaxie a.c. hoses

C1 means it is a 61 specific part in other words 61 was the first year that particular pulley was made but it still might be close enough to work.  I plugged that part # into eBay and got a listing
