Need Help With Power Steering Hoses for 1961 Galaxie

Hi Guys,
I need help with my power steering to control valve hoses. I am replacing them due to one leaking, and the other being butchered by the previous owner. I ended up buying a pair from autokrafters that said they fit 1961-1964 Galaxie. I know that the original hoses (part # C1AA-3A714-A) were both curved at one end, and 2 of the same part # was required. The set that I got, has one C3AZ-3A717-A Control valve to pump return hose (straight on both ends). And one C3AZ-3A714-A Control valve to cylinder hose (curved on one end, and a little longer.)  What I would like to know, is, which hose goes from upper port of cyl. to upper port of control valve, and which hose goes from lower port on cyl to lower port on control valve.  I know now that these are for a 1963 Galaxie, so hopefully someone with a '63 can point me in the right direction.
                                                                                                                                            Thanks,
                                                                                                                                               Dan

I can't answer your questions specifically with regards to the replacement hoses you purchased. However, I did post a couple of pics on this forum in a recent post showing the factory set up on a 61. Check out the post about 61 pitman arm getting lost in the mail just a few posts down from this one. It may give you some clues?

Re: Need Help With Power Steering Hoses for 1961 Galaxie

My hoses are original and do not have the bend in the metal part.  Bottom hole of the ram goes to the front hole in the control valve.  The top hole in the ram goes to the most rearward hole in the control valve.  There is a slight bend in the rubber hose on the latter to make it get into position.  Just guessing but possibly the manufacturer put the bend in the line to keep the installer from having to bend the line??  pics:

Be careful installing any of these hydraulic lines.  It is very possible that you will be unable to thread the new line very much by hand.  don't be tempted to put a wrench on it until you are sure it in several turns and is not cross threaded.  Run a tap in the holes to make sure the threads are clean. Cross threading a line means no seal and possibly damaging the female threads in the hole rendering the part useless.

Re: Need Help With Power Steering Hoses for 1961 Galaxie

Guys,
Thanks for your help. g-man, Your pictures show me a lot. Thanks. Just so I know, your hoses have straight ends threading into both the control valve and the cylinder (ram). Correct? Dan, thank you for the pics. Your '61 hoses look like mine. My top hose looked to be original, and is straight on the end that threads into the control valve, and curved on the end that is threaded into the ram. The bottom hose is anybody's guess. The end that threads into the ram is curved, and the end that threads into the control valve has been cut and SINGLE flared into a fitting on the control valve, because, just as g-man said, the previous owner must have cross threaded the threads. They then drilled the threads and tried to use a fitting along with pipe dope to get it to seal. I already have a replacement control valve housing that I am in the process of rebuilding. On the valve, The threads on the housing are in great shape and I have taken the seats out, ran a thread chaser (not a tap) in the threads and replaced the seats. I have a link to the hoses that I bought.https://autokrafters.com/p-2118-ps-hose-control-valvecyl-1961-64-gal.aspx

Yes all 4 of my hose ends are straight.  May not matter which hose goes where as long as the fitting seat in all the holes.
