Dash pad

Hello. I am new to the forum, and would to know if anyone has had their dash pad recovered. I own a 1968 Galaxie 500 fastback, and the dash is in rough shape. It has large splits, and the pod around the instruments/speedometer is droping slightly. I contacted Just Dashes, but them very high priced.
I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed.
Thanks very much

Re: Dash pad

Thanks, Boogyman. They said once they received it, they fix all the cracks, then apply new vinyl by a thermo vacuum process, crate it up to ship back to me, allĀ for around $1,400.00. While I know the process may be involved, I would think with as many as they do the price would more reasonable.

Re: Dash pad

A good upholstery shop should be able to recover your dash with a nice padded cover. It wouldn't be vacuum formed like the original, but it could have nice custom touches with nice stitching on seams needed to fit the material. I think that kind of thing would be nicer than the plastic overlays that are more typical in the parts catalogues.

Re: Dash pad

Thanks, 70XL. That was an option I had considered. Unfortunately, where I live, there are no longer any shops. I'm sure I could find one not too far away. Something more to think about.
