Hi Guys,
I need help and advice on my power steering control valve for my '61 Galaxie. The control valve housing is junk. Someone before me drilled (and stripped) a port where the cylinder to valve hose goes. They drilled the size out to what I believe is a 3/8 npt, and then used fittings and pipe dope to stop the leaking. Anyways, I need a new one. I have checked ebay to no avail, I have looked at places like MAC'S, ect...ect, they list rebuild services for my unit only. There are two places on the internet that I have read about, and maybe you can give me some insight about them. One is a site called stangerssite, and one is chockostang. I can also post an ad in your classifieds. Does anyone know of what cars will interchange besides 60-64 Full size ford? I tried a search on here, but didn't find what I was looking for.
Thanks,
Dan

I went thru this with my 63 galaxie . I rebuilt it. But in the process of taking off and reinstalling I stripped threads in the housing where the pressure line fits. Its the worst one because of the position/angle. I ended up bidding and winning a good used one on ebay for about 140.00 with shipping. There is no easy answer. They are not widely remanufactured, are specific to the vehicle. I talked to a machinist about tapping and re-threading and using adapters but in the end there was no guarantee of his work.

Guys,
Thanks for your help. Boogyman, when I first did a search, I went to summit. They have part number Cardone 28-6643 listed as fitting a Chevy, so I looked no further on that part number. When you gave me the link, I went and researched the part number, and I believe summit has it listed wrong, because there are other sites including yours that list it for the 1960-64 Ford. Go Figure. Anyways, this is a start. When I click on one summit link, it says that part number is not available, another link says that it is, so I will call and find out. g-man, that must be what happened to my housing, but someone drilled so far back into the housing, I,m surprised they didn't drill through! (I wish I were kidding, but I'm not.) Thanks again, for the replies.
Dan
