No turn signals

Since I got the 63.5 Galaxie in 2011, when flashing to the right side, the arm has to be held and pushed a bit more up to give signals. Now none of the blinkers are working. Not the indicator lights either. But the back up lights works. In spite of that, I checked the common fuse for the back up lights and the blinkers today, and it was ok. The leads coming from the switch in steering column seems quite new. My guess is anyway that one ore more leads near the switch is broken. Other suggestions what the reason can be?
