1963.5 Galaxie had 1966 390 and C6...trying to install 1963 390 to C6

Hello folks,  here my dilemma.  Tranny mount has been modified to accept a 1966 390 and C6.  The 1966 motor seized. Using stock 1963 motor mounts on my rebuilt 1963 390 the transmission needs to come ahead about 1.5".  I have about 2" of shaft sticking out of the tail of the tranny.  If I move it ahead 1.5"  will I drop the drive shaft?

If you are moving the Transmission and engine forward you will probably need to have some driveline work done.  a good rule of thumb to getting a driveline that is the correct length, with the car sitting at ride height, you want .75" to 1.5" of space between the shoulder of the slip yoke and the end of the transmission tailhousing (not to be confused with a seal that is sometimes there) those numbers are max and min I always shoot for 1"

If the drive shaft is too short, will one from a 1962 Galaxie 4 door work?

I can't say for sure.  if yo have access to one from a 62 then measure it and compare it to the length of yours.

Drive shaft is too short.  I thought I was going to be OK but I notices that the slip yoke is not fully splined.  I found a fully splined yoke in the shop(I think it came off a T-180  It fits the spline but has to large diameter.  I have a lather and would not take much to turn it down. I'm not sure the U-joint will work. Is there a slip yoke that is fully splined?

This whole thing doesnt make sense to me, help me out. If you had a stock drive line, the you should have had an FMX tranny. If thats so then the C6 is 2"LONGER than the FMX. Meaning you should have to push the mount back. If Im missing something help me out.

previous owner installed a 68ish 390 and C6.  He modified the trans mount and moved the 3 bolt engine mounts side ways.  A bit of a cob job.  I purchased the car with the engine removed. Just tranny( which had a broken pump shaft) but that's another story. I purchased a 1963 p code 390 all rebuilt.  I have installed the correct engine mounts and this slid the engine ahead.
