hey everyone, i got a hopefully simple question. i recently installed a 390 in my glalaxie and am using the stock radiator that was for the original 292. problem is now it tends to get a little too warm when running. this could be because the radiator for the 292 is very small. i need to get a bigger radiator. anyways question is what would be a good interchangeable bigger radiator that i could make fit in the galaxie. i cant afford these aftermarket catalog radiators but there is a bunch of junkyards near by where i live, is there any suggestions on how to put/get a bigger radiator in the 62 galaxie? thankyou for looking

how many rows is your radiator? I probably have an original big block radiator for that car but I am guessing it would need to be rebuilt. Let me know how many rows yours is and I will look at the one I have to see if its bigger. If its not bigger you might have other issues.

Hey thankyou for the reply. I just checked it. It is a 2 row. So I'm assuming that's not enough.

Do you have a fan shroud for your set up? Is you rad clean on the inside?

it has a shroud and its very clean, just a small radiator for the motor size

OK this is what I have.
It is a 3 row radiator from a 61 Galaxie that had a 390 in it (same core support as the 62) The bottom mounting piece has broken loose but that could easily be repaired. It might be a good radiator if it was cleaned and flushed, then again it might leak, I don't know it came from a car I parted out. At the time I got the car running so I could pull it in and out of the garage under its own power as I took it apart so there is a chance the radiator is good. The core measure approximately 18X22.5 not including the tanks. If it is not good any competent radiator shop should be able to fix it for you.
here is what the car looked like when I was done parting it out

If nothing else works out, try Day Motor Sports.com.They have a very nice aluminum rad. About $150.00. I have two of them and 0 problems. In-fact my fan relay went out in August, in Texas, and the only time my BB got warm was at a stop.
