Re: Show Me Your Ride(s)

This is my 63.5 Galaxie 500 XL, imported from Santa Monica, California. It is originally a 352 X-code car, but the engine is replaced with a 390 from a 67 Mustang. It has FPA tri-y headers and 2.5" exhaust system  Also a C6 is installed. In addition,  the brake system is modified, disc brakes in all 4 corners, and 2-circuit brake system. A homemade tow bar is installed, a light comcicamp is usually hitched when driving to car weekend meetings

Re: Show Me Your Ride(s)

Well me being a new member I guess I should show everyone my ride. It is a 1970 Ford XL numbers matching barn find that I found about four years ago. It was a one owner car that at the time hadn't been plated since 1996. It had been painted back in the 80's with this yellow as the actual original paint color is light ivy yellow. I have played around with the car a little adding 3.25 gears, rebuilt the 429 and added a few touches on the outside to make it look a bit meaner. I totally love this car!

Re: Show Me Your Ride(s)

Way, waaay back in the 'stoned' age, a friend of mine's dad owned a '70 429 car just like yours except it was green. My friend used to 'borrow' it and we would pack 7-8 of us in that thing, 4 across in back with our girlfriends in our laps, and go cruising on Friday & Saturday nights. Even with all that weight, we still surprised a few Camaros, Mustangs, Cudas and other small-block 'hot rods' in the inevitable stoplight street racing. It looked like our parent's cars on the outside, but under the hood lurked big block muscle... with air conditioning, even!

Don't get me wrong, the FE engines were real beasts. But the 385 series were no slouches either, especially with a little tweaking.

Re: Show Me Your Ride(s)

Sherwin, good move ditching the running boards and mud flaps! It's amazing how some wheels and some tasteful stripes can transform a vehicle. It looks really good. Nice job! Dan from Saskatoon
