I was planning on buying new armrests for my 61.Somebody a long time ago, changed the black interior to red and in doing so, used a red dye on the armrest. I checked with some major parts suppliers and nobody had a set in stock and not sure if they would even be available. I didn't think I would able to remove the dye, but thought I may as well try to clean them up. A little elbow grease later, they turned out pretty good. Now I don't have to spend the money.

What did you clean them with? It looks like they turned out great!

Kind of a tedious process. I used a terry cloth with laquer thinner. I removed a bit of paint off a small area then quickly wiped with Varsol. I repeated the process over and over until all of the paint was removed. I was trying to prevent the laquer thinner from melting the vinyl. The goal is to not try and get all of the paint off on your first attempt. It takes a few times. I tested a small area on the back side of the armrest first to make sure i didn't damage the vinyl. Once done, I thoroughly cleaned with a vinyl/leather cleaner and conditioner.
