A 59 Galaxie muffler body is 22.5" long with a total length of 31.5" (oval, center inlet, outside outlet)
What if I installed a shorter (14") muffler designed for a 70s Galaxie with the same size engine? Those cars were
quiet. What are the pros & cons of the shorter muffler?

I went to the dark side of the force... using 2 Summit Cherry Bomb clone mufflers....

I found, what I assumed, were the correct Walker's on ebay. I should have asked Walker what was best.
I asked the local shop to order Walker pn 17886. Well, they got installed yesterday. I hate them! Too LOUD!
I hate old farts disease.

What does the local muffler shop recommend for nice and quiet muffler? Now, they better not recommend the Walker 17886.

I failed to ask them. I assumed if it was not a street rod muffler, it was a quiet muffler. WRONG !!
I emailed my sob story to tech support at Walker this afternoon. No reply yet

Walker replied to my inquiry. The muffler #17866 is a universal muffler. They are never as as quiet as the
OEM mufflers. OH. Perhaps I should have spent another $200+ for resonators.
