HOW RARE ?

In 1971 I bought a 66 Mercury Park Lane 4-door HT that was ordered out as a demonstrator when new
with all the available options to include the 428 engine.  IF I had kept the car and maintained it over the years,
how valuable would it be today?  It was a mechanical nightmare..just like the 66 T-Bird I own now.
I sold the Merc in 72.  The kids of the owner totalled it in 74.  What if.....?

Re: HOW RARE ?

getting the rarity of these older cars is hard to get some times because a lot of documentation were not kept by ford. I can say this a car with ALL the options is going to be rare no mater what it is so yes the car probably would have been a good one

Re: HOW RARE ?

I emailed Ford Marketing.  A young rooky sent back the production figures model by model.  However, the
428 engine was not addressed.  Jamie is not a gear head.  Based on other corporate info, Ford did not
keep track of optiion production...ie the 428 was an option.  Tomorrow Jamie will reply.
Mercury built 19,000+ Park Lane 4-door hard tops in 66.

Re: HOW RARE ?

Does Marti have info back to 66? A Marti Report should be able to give you all the details on productions numbers, with options, if they have that info. It is his business, so there is a fee.

Re: HOW RARE ?

I owned the car for a year back in 1971.  It was a high performance beast. It was not designed for all of the
options that Ford hung on it.  I replaced it with an ugly 67 Olds 98 with basic luxury options to include
Comfortron.   The Olds was far superior to the Mercury.  I sold the Mercury to a  family that owned it for a owned it  for a couple of years. Their teenage son totalled it.  I recoverd the owners manual in the bone yard.
I'm too cheap to pay for a production figure.  Ford does not have production figures by the engine size.
END OF STORY.
