1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

Yesterday I purchased a beautiful 59 Galaxie Sunliner. It was well maintained in black with a black top.
The interior is black, red and white.  It has a couple of issues.  We all know the shift lever must find the sweet
spot for the starter to engage.  The neutral safety switch was coverd with spray paint.  I rubbed some of it off with
my thumb nail........and it started.
I found it in the shop manual. Wish me luck.
The second issue is the hot wire to the electric wiper motor.  I can't find it. What harness is it a part of?
The car I'm selling is a 66 T-Bird Town Landau coupe equipped with all of the options. Asking $9,000.

Try this, should be the same circuitry for the 8 as well, as far as the wipers go.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

I found the wiring diagram and printed it.  I did not find the wiper motor wire.  However,  the illustrated 49 to 59
parts book did show the wire had a grommet where it passed through the fire wall.  I may find it under the dash.
Wish me luck.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

The cars equipped with vacuum wipers had no wiring that I know of. This is what mine was (converted to electric). Maybe the V8 schematic has it.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

I visited a friend that owns a 59 Skyliner equipped with electric wipers.  I followed the wire through the fire wall
under the dash.  It dissapeard up around the ignition switch.  My electric motor was never connected.
Today I bought a tiny rubber grommet for the wiper wire.  I hope it works.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

I plan on wiring it to the 12 volts for the top control with a fuse.
I ordered a large wiring diagram book.  That should answer my question.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

Good News.   I have the wire, the built in grommet and the breaker for the wiper motor.  They were waiting
for me on  the remains of a 59 Galaxie at a local bone yard.  The new wiring manual shows it is connected
to a lug on the ignition switch.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

The wire most likely goes to the accessory position. Definitely don't want it hot all the time.

That '59 in the yard... does it have the upper windshield trim clips on it? I'd like all 4, but would take 1 and copy it.

Re: 1959....12 volt wire for wiper motor?

With the wires and breaker from Jacks Auto Ranch and the huge diagrams purchased on ebay, I can connect
the electric wiper motor correctly to the ignition switch.  The radio will also be connected.

I removed installed the used wire and breaker under the dash connecting it to the accessory
terminal of the ignition switch.  WOW!!  NEAT!!  2 speeds too.
The washer bracket and bag is installed.  Edsel nozzles are similar but not the same.  It will all be connected
properly to a pedal-pump under the dash and work slicker then s...
