Re: Hay dan_6776 did you dry test your R&P set up? if not you need to.

Thread would be interesting.
I was speaking to a tech who works only on electrical stuff at a local Ford dealership. He indicated that if you don't get the computer "flashed" after removing stuff, you will get lots of codes. Reason being is that when you turn ignition on, the computer wants information from all of the systems. Reason why a wiring kit appeals to me. From your experience so far regarding the wiring...is the time spent sorting it all out maybe worth investigating in an available kit?

THats why i used a 94 motor and wiring,
the 97 and later with OBD II electronics needs to be flashed. My motor is still running off the old EEC-IV like the
5.0 mustangs had (did a bunch of those swaps before into 2 67 galaxies) so i was familiar with some of it, just
the dohc 4.6 has a few more sensors etc that i kept. Only thing i will most likey get a code for is having a 5 spd
and it looking for the auto/convertor to lock up for the tranny.

How would you describe the performance with the 4.6 engine considering the weight of the Galaxie?

Well
It pulls the 3800 lb Mark 8 around nicely
So it should move my 3900 lb wagon with 3.50 gears with ease

Re: Hay dan_6776 did you dry test your R&P set up? if not you need to.

Dry test 3.0...a success! A follow up on the support bracket flexing issue. Originally, I made the bracket for the rod end bolt supporting the DD shaft too light. As a result, the bracket flexed when dry testing. To correct that issue, I added a gusset plate to the bracket and added a bolt to the top of the bracket in order to secure it to the top of the frame rail. These changes helped but didn't completely eliminate the flex. So, I added a second bracket. The bracket mounts to the outside of the frame and mirrors the bracket on the inside of the frame. It is heavier, wider and also has a gusset plate. The nuts on the rod end bolt secure the two brackets together. I dry tested again and I could not notice any visible flex. I think I'm now good to go.
Bracket I added:
Both brackets secured by nuts on rod end bolt:

smart to come at it from the other side.  I am amazed at how much force can be applied to that bracket.  I never expected it to be jumping around the way it was on my build.

Yes true about the force applied, surprising! Tried to make work what was already there and although not as beefy or nice looking as the way you did it...it now functions as intended. You should have done your rack first so we could have copied your system. Lol

Thats kind of a funny statement for totaly different reasons than what you think.  I started gather parts for my install over 10 years ago but never got around to putting it all together, then it was you doing yours that inspired me to get it done.  If you hadn't done yours there is a good chance mine would still be a collection of parts sitting on the shelf
