The original interior on the 61 had been replaced at some point with a poorly done upholstery job. On top of this the vinyl was pretty dried out and stiff. I wasn't having any luck finding replacement seat kits and if I would have, the foam in the seats needed to be changed out as well. I was able to find seat covers and door panel covers for 62 but they look different than the 61. So, I headed back to the salvage to see what might fit. Being a covertible, the back seat is a little narrower, so that presented a bit of a challenge as well. I found a rear seat and buckets out of 2001 Monte Carlo SS that were in pretty good shape. I test fit the back seat and couldn't believe how well it fit. With a little modification they will look good in that car. Now I just have to get the door and rear side panels done to match.

looks good, nice find!!!

Best part of that find was the price...$75.00 for everything(two buckets and two complete rear seats)! The original front bench was a power seat so there is a power supply for the new buckets. Now I also have heated seats for those cooler nights cruising!
Any suggestions for a center console?

Update on the seat install. Got the rear seat mounted with seatbelts done. Also installed the front bucket seats. Need to mount seatbelts to finish that job. I also mounted a console between the seats. There was a big gap between the buckets I needed to fill and inside the console will also provide a place to install the computer i will be getting from the Ron Francis wiring kit. It was hard finding a console that didn't have a shifter. I want to keep the column shifter as I already set up the linkage for a column shift. I ended up using a console out of early 2000's GM truck. Bought some good paint at an upholstery shop to get the color close to the seats.

Looks good. Did you have any issues mounting the buckets in there?? when I did mine I had to build a frame that bolted to the floor leveled it, the buckets then bolted to the frame.

Thanks. No frame. The outside seat tracks sat flush on the floor. The inside seat tracks needed some help. I welded some legs with plates for bolts to the tracks and then bolted everything to the floor. Underside of car I added some 2 inch washers for support.
I would highly suggest going with these seats if anyone is considering changing out their interior on a 61, everything fit great. Pretty easy install.
