What is typical OEM transmission angle in 1962-64 Galaxie?

When setting the rear end pinion angle for a 4-bar install on my 1963 Galaxie, I first checked the transmission output shaft and saw 7 degrees downward toward the rear.  It seems a bit excessive to me. It has a 390 with a C6 and a hack-job crossmember from a previous owner.  I need to fix up the crossmember before completing the 4-bar and would like to know if you guys think it should be raised a bit.  If so, what's a good target angle? - Garrett

Try this site out.
There are so many variations  I would think 2 to 4 deg down but again look at the site.

In my experience most transmissions hang down about 3º  Some a little more some a little less but 3º is a the best # to shoot for as it allows you to set your pinion at 0º because you will pick up 2 to 4 degrees from axle wrap.

Thanks, Daze.  Your post is consistent with what I've been hearing. I need to raise that crossmember!
