Hi. New member here looking for some advice. The last car my husband got before he passed away was a 1965 Galaxie V-8 352. The fuel pump croaked on me, and now I'm trying to order a new one from Dearborn Classics. They told me over the phone I had a V-6 because they don't have a fuel pump listed for a 352 V-8. I can count plug wires. There are 8 plus a center wire. Is there something I don't know about the pumps that has changed? Should I order one for a 1965 390? Would that fit, or have they changed something so that it wouldn't fit a 352? Does the person just not know what she talking about? The old catalog that I have from 2009 shows a pump for a 1965 that fits either a 352 or a 390. Thanks for any help.

I might suggest going some place other than Dearborn for your part. They should be the same fuel pump for 352 and 390, at least according to listings on other parts sites. The call centre people you spoke to are not very knowledgable because there was not a V6 back then, the base six cylinder engine was an inline six. No way to confuse that with a V-8. If you don't want to go and shop local, take a look at places like RockAuto.com, they show around five options for your 352 at prices from $30 - $155. If a local parts wholesaler, or even a big retail store, doesn't have one in stock, they should be able to get them for you in a day, or two. You could even take the old one in and get the new one matched up.

Thank you. I was able to get one from a local store after all, but then I had trouble getting a new diaphragm for the accelerator fuel pump. The one they said should match was a little more wide than the old one, and the screw holes didn't match. The old one was square. I took the numbers off the old part and saw that it was a Hygrade part. The store was able to crossmatch one, and I'm hoping to pick it up tomorrow. Thanks for your help!
