1970 Ford LTD 351W with front disc

Hi, new guy here with a perplexing problem. I'm doing the entire brake system. Why is getting the correct parts for this thing so hard? The front pads I bought from the local parts place looked OK until it came time to install them They were an 1/8" off on the outer pad and the holes for those pins were in the wrong place. The front hoses seem to be made out of unobtanium but finally found a set on ebay for $84.00.They are the ones with a bracket with two bolt holes and mount to the frame. The other end is a banjo fitting. EVERY parts store I went to shows only the drum brake hose. The rear brake hose was made wrong and wanted the hose upside down so I had to modify the bracket so it wouldn't be twisted and I had to bend the rear brake lines to line up. Nothing short of a miracle the master cylinder actually worked perfect.

The brake hoses are hard to come by, and expensive, for the stock rubber. I haven't had to replace rotors or pads on mine, I don't remember the last time I replaced pads and I've had my 70 XL for more than 30 years. The rear brake hose may have been for a 9" rear end and you may have the WER (8.75"), non-removable carrier rear, like my car has as well, which was common with the small block cars. Brake Hoses Unlimited indicates the rear hose is for 9" rear end only. Most other mechanical stuff is pretty basic and easy to get.

Well, I ended up fixing the pads and drilling holes in the proper place. The hoses fit perfect and we should be up and running tomorrow. Back in the 70's I had a 66 Gal with a 428 "7" litre auto with bucket seats. I wish I had that car now!
