1966 Ford Ltd Power steeringump

Hello, I have a 66 ltd 390 A/C car. While driving the other day my power steering quit working. Belt tight, no noise from pump, fluid level shows full. What could it be? Also in looking at rebuilt pumps, if that is the problem, I notice 66 pump has a mounting bolt on the rear of pump, later years did not. Can a later pump be used? Bob

Staying with the original style would be best, but my 460 has a newer model pump on it (smaller resevoir) and it works fine on my 66 Galaxie.
