just recentky bought a galaxie, im fairly new to these sweet things so im not too experienced working on this bad boy its a 289 with 3 on the tree. i bought a hurst floor shifter kit and am waiting for it to come in the mail. does anyone have any tips on what would be the easiest-correct way to do this swap? thanks!

How does the Hurst kit mount up?? A lot of manual floor shifters mount to the tail of the trans. This may be an issue as some ford transmissions did not come with mounting spots on the talehousing of the transmission.

it looks like it connects to the mid section of the trans not the tail section. on summit and this guy at the classic car shop in my town said it should come with everything needed to complete the swap so i guess i will se when it comes in and i can look at what i have to work with.

The linkage connects mid transmission but the shifter has to mount solid to somthing usually the talehousing of the transmission.
Some Galaxie manual 3-speed transmissions came with tale shafts that had no mounting spot for a floor shifter cast into the housing, some times the spots were cast into the tale housing but not drilled and machined and some times they were fully machined. You may want to look and see exactly what your situation is so that you can come up with other options if the mounting holes are not there.
