Hello all. If you will excuse a question from a 1961 TBird owner, I expect some of you may have had this issue and can assist. The dipstick tube from my cruiseomatic transmission stands out far enough from the transmission that it interferes with my new headers. Modifying the tube appears not to be possible...the necessary bend appears to be too severe for the tubing to survive. I am investigating flexible dipstick tubes now. I would appreciate knowing how any of you have dealt with transmission dipstick clearance issues for trannies that are pan-filled like mine. Thanks very much.

got any pix of the issue in question?? I have not had the exact problem you are talking about however I have managed to eliminate lots of different clearance issues over the years and may have some suggestions if I could see some pix. BTW welcome to the forum.

Daze,
Yes I do have a picture on my phone but maybe a little fuzzy. Is there a place on this forum that explains how tp post pictures?
Nice 62 you have. My first car was a 62 Galaxie retired NC state trooper car. When I crank up my TBird, I am reminded of that first 390.

here you go. some of the steps may have changed a little but as a whole the concept should be the same.
If you have problems let me know and I will see if I can help further.

Daze,
Thanks anyway but after investigating several options, I summoned my courage as we heated and bent the existing tube in several places. It turned out not the prettiest solution but functional. I see now that Pat Wilson's has used tubes so I guess I did have a fallback after all. Thanks so much for your offer of help. Now, to get on with the engine reinstall!
