Tire advice

I'm restoring my Grandmother's 65 Galaxie 500 ( Miss Priss) . She's a 4dr hardtop. I've been told by my brother who has driven it for years that radials haven't been the best option, as they make the car wander, and I should go back to bias ply tires.   I don't plan to show this car, or do excessive road travel. Some interstate travel a couple of times a year ..Anyone have any experience with this?
Thanks..

I know he's your brother and all, but please choose not to listen to him this time.  Yes, radal tires will wander uncontrolably. But ONLY if you mix them with bias ply tired on the same car (I tried that once in 1975). With a full set of radials and a good alignment, the car will track straight and true.

Re: Tire advice

I believe that generally accepted knowledge is that bias ply tires wander, follow ridges and wallows in the road far more than radial tires. Your bother's current experience may be from worn out streering and suspension components and a poor alingment, not from radial tires. If you are restoring the car, then you'll be replacing all those wear items, ball joints, tei rod ends, drag links, pitman arm, possibly control arm bushings, etc.
