Hey folks, new to the forum. I have a 64 galaxie and have converted the manual drum brakes to front disk, rear drum. After a few weeks of me and my mechanic trying to get the power master cylinder that came with the kit to work correctly it has been decided that it's crap. Can someone tell me a unit they have had good luck with. Thanks.

what kind of power booster are you running?? what was it for originally?

The car came with a manual single bowl. The kit I installed came with a duel bowl with power booster. It's from Toms classic on E-Bay. The kit is a BM 1507 and uses a corvette booster setup.

This may sound like a silly question, but did you have the MC hooked up correctly?? A corvette MC is backwards compared to a Ford MC. With the Corvette MC the front bowl is for the front wheels and the back bowl is for the back wheels. Makes a big difference as there is a delay in the pedal stroke before the back bowl begins to move fluid. If that won't work I would look into a full sized Ford MC from the early70s disc/drum power brake car. The problem you will run into is getting the correct pushrod length. If you can get a MC that takes a longer pushrod than the Corvette unit you can get a piece of steel rod and put it inside the MC to make up the difference. The trick will be to get just the right length with out adding any prelaod to the hydraulic system and with out a dely is pedal stroke before the brakes start to work.

Ya we double checked all that, check the vacuum off the motor and vacuum on the booster just ready to change out and move on.

so are you wanting to replace just the MC or the MC and booster together??

I want to replace both. I was hoping someone had installed one on a 64 that worked out with no issues.
