65 Galaxie steering column

Hello Everyone,
I'm new to this forum, but am anxious to get, and provide some helpful insight.  I have a question about my 65 Ford Galaxie.  I recently took the car to a shop that has done work for me in the past.  I was having them replace the turn signal wire harness, the cone, and the collar.  The car was originally a column shift car, but was converted to floor shift by the previous owner.  He never switched the cone/collar, so I found the correct cone, and collar for a floor shift car on ebay, but here is my concern:  Both the cone and the collar are lose on the steering column now.  The steering also seems to have a slight bit of resistance in it, where as before it was very smooth power steering.  The horn, and the turn signals work and the cone and collar look right on the column, but I know they shouldn't be lose.  The turn signal doesn't cancel either which I'm sure is due to the play in the collar.  There wasn't this issue before the shop did the work.  Any help would be appreciated.  I'm going to try and visit the shop this week about it....thanks
