I bought the bucket seats and took out the bench seat...I restored the bucket seats and when I put them in the car I found they did not conform to the floor..I ended up hammering on the seat frame base so it fits. ..so now I am wondering what other problems I will run into....how hard is it to fit an XL back seat, center speaker grill, back side panels??? Has anyone had success in doing this??? I may end up just going with the bucket seats and leaving the rest 500 but then wonder how odd that will look??

G-man, I recently bought a 64 500xl that is missing much of the interior and exterior trim. My sugestion would be to accumulate as many of the pieces for the xl interior as you can find. Take your time and then change out when you have enough to at least nearly complete the job. The xl trim package is way nicer, but there are a lot of pieces involved. The bodies are the same. The xl interior is a bolt-in. Finding a complete or nearly complete interior is always the way to go. By the way, my car came with a console that was missing some pieces. I bought a 2nd console for some trim pieces. I should be receiving it today. I am looking to sell the 2nd console once I pull the pieces that I need, if you are interested.

Not sure if I will go with the complete "XL" conversion. Basically it is a 63 1/2 500 car...my problem is the bucket seats did NOT conform to the floors. And after I got them bolted on they seem almost too high up. Wonder if the XL had a differerent floor?
