62 ignition

Hey all
For those that have done a swap to newer engine\transmission how did you by pass the
NSS?
I'm running the Ford Duraspark,  and will be using a floor shifter, but right now just
like to get the car started.
Also my ignition switch shows  acc, off run start,   but the key will not turn to acc...
question is it suppose to?
 Best
Dave

Re: 62 ignition

as to the key, yes it sould turn to ACC.  Sounds like the tumbeler has issues, try wiggling the key up and down as you turn it.  This will probably allow you to turn to ACC

Re: 62 ignition

you bypass the neutral switch simply by plugubg together the wires that go inbto it, thereby completing the circuit. If this type of thing is a puzzlement, then you can surely benefit fromn the purchase of an official Ford shop manual. It will save you plenty in lost time, not to mention money. Ebay is full of them in both CD and book form. I reccomend the book. Average price $20 to $40.

Re: 62 ignition

thanks Daze
Zray, your correct and I have one online.
actually this is a complete swap from the 62 ignition to more like a 77 style.
and I really don't need the NSS right now,
The car will turn over, not starting yet.. that will come in a day or two..
Thanks for your input.
thanks for the suggestion about the switch, probably take it out tomorrow and clean it
up and check it..
Best
Dave

Re: 62 ignition

unfortunately I know zero about Ford ignitions made after 1973. With the neutral switch bypassed, do you have a spark at the plugs ?
