Re: Member Intro

Hi.  Thank's for the add into the group.  I recently acquired a 1968 Galaxie 500, 390/C6.  It's in really great shape so fortunately/unfortunately there's not a lot to do to it but there some is some work to be done.  Still manual drum brakes for example.  I am the third owner and it was garage kept it's whole life, 128,000 original miles.  The body is perfect and it's the straightest body you'll ever see!  I'll post more pics in the pics thread.

Re: Member Intro

Hi, I'm new to the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I own a 63 Marauder which is in the final stages of completion and I hope the folks here can help me with the last steps.

Re: Member Intro

Hello. I just joined. I recently got my first project car, a 1961 Monterey that needs a lot of work to get going. I wasn't initially looking for such a big car, but my wife thought it was cool too and there's plenty of room for car seats haha. Plus I've always been a Ford guy so I went for it. The 390 in it is seized solid, so I'm on the search for an engine, not necessarily another 390! Anyway, I joined to hopefully get some good advice throughout this project. Thanks.

Welcome to the forum!!  I am a huge fan of the SBF  I have a 302 in my 62 and the car gets up and moves.  I have a 351W waiting to go in it so that it moves a little faster.  I ditched the FE engine I had because I could make good power for less $$ with a SBF.

Thanks! I've mostly been considered big blocks, but maybe I should consider an SBF too. I don't need it to be a 9 second car or anything, but I want it to be a quick street car when done.

Re: Member Intro

A 351w can easily be stroked out to a 393 or a 408.  When I put together my 351 (I bought it used) I decided to let my motor decide.  If it tested well I would reseal it and run it as a 351 BUT if it needed machine work I would stroke it out to a 393.  The test came back good so no stroker...
