New to the site... I just picked up this 67 Galaxie 4 door hardtop about a month ago. Has the original 390 big block, 35000 original miles, and only about a 6x9 spot of rust on the car! She needs a master cylinder, and the seller included a new one, with a new brake booster! She also needs a radiator. Looks like about $200 for that. The carpet and some trim panels need replaced, as do most of the weather strips. I just replaced the trunk weatherstripping last weekend. My fingers are still sore! lol.
The best part is the price I paid! He was asking $1500 on FB marketplace. I told him I wouldn't even try to negotiate, as a good running car of this caliber is worth that. He said he'd take $1300! WHAT?!?!? lol. She fires right up, sounds amazing, and will be an easy fixer upper for my daughter. (it's her car, she wanted a cool classic car for her first car. She wants to work on it with me! Pretty awesome for a girl that has never worked on anything mechanical in her life.)
I'm looking to fix or replace the parts that are bad, and improve the quality of car for her. I'm going to install a modern stereo, but am not sure how to do this. I might build a center floor console (it has bucket seats), or just cut out the old stereo. I'll also probably install speakers in the doors and rear dash.
One request I have for you guys is a photo. I need to see what the inside of the trunk is supposed to look like on the sides. It looks like some sheet metal was removed (inner fenders), but I'm not 100% sure. I can see through that one rust spot on the driver's side rear fender. If there is supposed to be an inner fender piece, I need to buy it or have it fabricated and installed. Thanks in advance!
**Edit** I guess I have to make 2 posts before I can post pics... They're coming!

Cool that it has bucket seats in a 4 door. I'd probably lean to building the console and installing a stereo head unit in the console. Cutting up the dash and working in there is messy and can mess up the integrity of the classic dash. I'm not sure what you're describing about the potential missing metal in the trunk. There is not any sheet metal fillers, or block off panels between the trunk and the back side of the quarter panel. There were some hardboard fillers that covered the valley created at the outer edge of the trunk pan where it turned down to meet the bottom of the quarter, but other wise you could see he back side of the quarter panel and the wheel house.
Great project for you and your daughter. Best of luck with it.

Hi, guys - newbie, here. Thanks for all the great information on this forum. Here are some pics of my '70 XL 429 4-barrel. This is a 38K mile car. It had been sitting (protected) for several years. Over the last two weeks, I've replaced the original shocks with coil-assist Gabriels and replaced tires & wheels. It will get new exhaust in a week or two. Thanks, again for the great forum.
