Fuel tank fuel injection conversion update

In a previous post I was asked how I was planning on converting the fuel tank in the 61 to accept an electric fuel pump to feed the 4.6. Here is what I came up with:
I shortened the factory Crown Vic fuel pump bracket and welded to a metal cover. I welded the factory bung to the front of the tank to accept the electrical wires.

I removed the filter/screen off the factory pick up tube/sending unit and attached a rubber fuel line from the electric fuel pump outlet to the pick up tube/sending unit assembly inlet. They fuel lines are different sizes, so they had to be connected together with a brass fitting. If I ever have to remove the fuel pump I can split the hose at the fitting without having to remove the pick up tube/sending unit assembly.

Lastly, the factory Crown Vic fuel line fittings were welded to the discharge on the fuel pick up tube/sending unit assembly and one welded to the Galaxie overflow outlet to act as the return line. I also mounted a fuel filter bracket to the inside of the frame rail and will use a factory Crown Vic fuel filter. Now I can use the correct fuel line front to back, the fittings will all be the same.

Re: Fuel tank fuel injection conversion update

Does the tank still have a vent?  How did you handle that?

Re: Fuel tank fuel injection conversion update

I've got a vented fuel tank cap on the filler pipe.
