    My Galaxie is a 63.5 500 XL. The package tray is "molded" and not only a sheet. Didnt wanted to "destroy" the original made by steele. A repro was ordered from Dearborn but it was to short, because the package tray on the early 63s (Boxtops) are shorter. So I had to extend the tray rearward. The speakers are placed between the braces and the grilles are painted the same color as the interior

    Yeah, that's where I mounted mine. Mine is not as strong a system, though based on your speakers.
