Does the steering box have a plate on top? I believe there is a seal where the adjuster goes through it. It may even be an o-ring. I have to check my box adjustment on the '59 and also look at the new drag link. I just set it up when it was out of the car so it just may be loose.
I go by the book with steering box adjustments, mine says to drop the pitman arm and check the torque at the steering wheel.
