Re: 63 galaxie

In a previous thread a member on this site posted a picture of his lowered 63. On the home page of this forum in the search bar enter.."Cutting front coil springs...need an answer"

Re: 63 galaxie

That was probably me. My car is about 3" lower at the front and about 2 1/2" lower at the rear.

Beautiful! One of my favorite year Galaxies in my favorite color. Is that an original 427 car?

Re: 63 galaxie

No, it's originally a Z Code 390 car.
But it has an R Code 427 with the 2x4 set up and backed by a Top Loader.  Not quite as good as an R Code car, but it's half the price of one.

Re: 63 galaxie

R code, Z code, wouldn't bother me one bit... I'd be damn happy to own that car! An original R code 427 engine with dual 4 bbls alone is worth a bucket of money, but of course you know that.

Do you have the factory cast iron headers as well? If not, I happen to see these for sale:

Re: 63 galaxie

Yes it has the factory cast headers.
The interesting thing about the engine is the casting dates. The car is April 1963, and the block, heads and intake are Jan/Feb dated. The engine was in the car when I bought it, so someone appears to have gone through the effort of getting the right engine or as close as possible regarding the dates.

Re: 63 galaxie

If you ever decide to sell that beauty, let me know... though I suspect you already have a few hopefuls waiting in line ahead of me. Not that I could afford it.

It's a long way to Western Australia for you to come for inspection.
