I am looking the replace the 3.25 open rear center section in my 64 Galaxie 500.
I have found one with 4.10 or 4.11 gears that they say is a Nodular case posi with 28 splines, which would match up with the axles in mine. The price is $700. Is this a good price, and has anyone heard of a Nodular center section with 28 splines? I have read that all of the Nodular ones have 31 splines.
Thanks

Did some research on this a while back. The Nodular rear end was used mostly on the 428 and 429 cars and some trucks. The case should be marked with an "N" and from what I understand, were 31 spline axles. Check out the attached link for more detailed information:

I believe nodular cases only come in 3.062" carrier bearing size (31 spline axle) or larger:
Just my opinion, but I think 28 spline axles would fail under torque before the case would, so to me there's not much point in a nodular case for a 28 spline rear end. Might be better to find a used or salvaged 31 spline rear end, then swap in the nodular case linked above.

Thanks. I will check this thing out in person when I am up there. It is probably either a 31 spline or not nodular.
