Got the exhaust done yesterday. Went with Flowmaster 40's...hope I don't go deaf...lol. Darn mud on the tires...hey, the snow is almost all gone. Next stop alignment shop. Scared about that one cause of the camber issue with the Cougar spindles.

looks good!! how does it sound? The cougar spindles should be less of an issue than the t-bird ones. did you ever test it?

Thanks. Don't know how it sounds yet, some last minute wiring to take care of before I can start it up. Didn't measure...going for an alignment on Friday, just not enough time to take everything apart. Hopefully alignment shop can answer my questions regarding further lowering.

Flow Masters loud? I'm putting Summit Cherry Bombs on my '59. I like where the exits come out, I'll do something like that on mine.
Are those springs new? I'd like to get some for my car.

Original springs blasted and painted. Didn't want to see the exhaust exits. If I change my mind later I can always tack on some stainless tips.

Thanks, it all looks very nice. I'll take your picture with me when I have my exhaust done. I'll have it exit more towards the back bumper. I'm not big on them straight out the back like a lot I see.
My springs are pretty stiff, may have had extra or heavier leaves installed at some time. I'll see how it rides, a bit hesitant about lowering blocks as the rear tires were a tight fit as is when I put them on.

I have to go back to muffler shop when it is running. They are going to replace the passenger side tail pipe with a single piece to get rid of the two piece one they put in. I would have had them slant the exits towards the rear of the car at a more gentle angle(45ish) if I had wanted the exits to show.

Fired the car up and brought the Flow master 40's to life. They sound really good. Very deep, with a slight rumble at idle. When you step on it, they do produce a loud note.

Looks great, very clean installation. I'm considering Flowmasters for mine, I like the deeper rumbling note. I had long 3 ft. glass-packs on my '66 F100 (351w) and it wasn't too loud, just not very deep and a little too 'smooth'...I like it a little more 'raw'.
I think it would look good with your exhaust tips coming out the side, right behind the rear tires at a downward angle, maybe with slant-cut oval tips? Just an idea, only your vision really matters of course.

Thanks for the comment. I should have also mentioned that the exhaust sound is very noticeable inside the car. It is probably louder than should be due to the car being a convertible. Sounds like these mufflers may be what you are looking for? Another point about the Flowmasters is that they are not a packed muffler, so the tone shouldn't change the more they are used. You definitely hear the car approaching.
