I have my Galaxie and everything works but for the fuel gauge. I have checked wiring at the tank and is fine there. I have been told that the gauge cluster voltage regulator can go bad or a bad ground is there anything else I need to know and look for???

both electrical gauges get their power from the same regulator so if the temp gauge is working than it is not the regulator. First thing I would do is unplug the wire from the gas tank and then connect it to ground. once you have done that turn the key to run. If the gauge pegs on the full side than the gauge is good and getting power and the problem is the sending unit in the fuel tank. if nothing happens than the issue is either the gauge, or the wires... assuming the temp gauge is working like I said above.

Awesome thanks Yes the temp gauge works but i also forgot to say I have no dash lights also.
Any hints on that...LOL

The dash lights are on a different circuit. First thing I would check is the headlight switch. Originally they came with a dimmer option. Over time the resister wire that creates the dimmer effect gets brittle and will brake. this make the dimmer function not work however if you with the headlights turned on rotate the headlight switch counter-clockwise all the way until it stops and clicks. This will put the switch at full brightness which bypasses the dimmer wire all together and should turn on your dash lights. If not I would check the the fuses. I would then check the bulbs and the actual switch it self. This forum is a fantastic resource and we will help you in every way that we can, however as added assistance I would get an OEM 63 shop manual (not a Chilton or Haynes). You can get a hard copy or digital copy on eBay. Not only will it have complete wiring diagrams but it also gives you step by step instructions on how do most anything that might need to be done on your car. (the one pictured below is for a 64 but the 63 should look similar)

I saw a post yesterday about that manual. I found one and ordered it last night. Shipped today so should have it soon. Thanks for all the help. This forum is awesome so far.

I have a 66 Galaxie. My fuel gauge always reads full. I have a pulsating circuit at the sending unit wire when the wire is not connected. But the second I connect it to the sending unit the live circuit is not live anymore. I replaced the sending unit with an aftermarket one. What gives? Any ideas?

Some of those OG HL switches had a funky fuse in them, the old buss type glass ones, may be a simple fix. Any switch I've replaced, I've used a newer style, no fuse.
