I have a 1963 Galaxie with a 352 and I drove the car a little over a week ago and now all it does is crank. I am getting fuel. I also checked the coil, points and , condensor. The cap and rotor were a little corroded and I replaced all cause it was all showing age. Still only cranks. I pulled a plug and I am getting no spark. Any ideas? Is there something I am missing? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did the no spark issue occur after you replaced the electrical parts? If so, I would try replacing the new components one by one with the old stuff you took out to try and isolate a faulty new electrical part? If the car ran good before, makes me suspect one of the new parts? Are your points adjusted correctly? Could you have a bad coil wire? Check your coil wires for corrosion or broken wire or bad ground. Just a few ideas that come to mind?

did you ground the plug?? in other words the body of the plug has to be grounded for a spark to be created. Even if the ignition system is working if you simply put the plug in the end of the wire but don't ground it it won't work. I have a spark plug tester I made myself that is simply a spark plug welded to a small pare of vice-grips. works well you simply connect the vice-grips to a grounded part of the car and then connect the wire to the plug and crank it over to test for spark.

Would it work if I position the plug against the motor to see if there is a spark?

any ground will do, so the block or a mounting bolt, just make sure the body of the plug is on clean bare grounded metal.

Great was really confused why it ran one day and then not a few days later. This is my first old car and i am excited to fix it up and so is my son. Any ideas of where i could find out the approximate value of the car. I know Haggerty insurance said i could insure it for more than i have just trying to be realistic. I am so happy i found this forum. I think it will be a good place for me when I am stumped.

Find values here...
click on "ford", then click the down arrow in the drop down list for the year, drag the scroll bar down, click on the year, then drag all the different models for that year will be displayed alphabetically, drag down to galaxie click on then find your options. ie motor in cu inches/ hp and if 4 speed click on that box etc. It will give you the original msrp the low, average and high values. It must be said that these are just starting point for pricing. With these old vehicles condition is everything so $500 for a parts car all the way on up to the High values shown here for a number one car.
