Battery area - original or not?

2 days ago, I was prepared to get the battery area ready for welding, but it was only the battery tray which was rusted.

Today I was drilling som rust and paint away. On the plate under the tray, it is an edge. Is this plate original or replaced once? The edge is at the tip of the arrows

Re: Battery area - original or not?

I have a 61 and it has a similar piece. . I would guess to say original. I recently replaced my tray with one from a GM Yukon. GM trucks used the same tray. Check out my post.."Battery tray idea" to see a picture.

Re: Battery area - original or not?

Looked at your thread and it looks great. Easy way to fasten the battery. But Its expensive to import it or to buy in Norway, Its also has to be modified a bit. A new one looks like this:

http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Battery-Tray-Full-Size-Truck-Chevy-Passenger-Right-Side-Chevrolet-GM2995113-/231127205096?fits=Model%3ABlazer&hash=item35d04144e8:g:TwwAAOSw5ZBWQDxw&vxp=mtr

I have this one: http://www.classicindustries.com/product/truck/parts/w21087.html

But I would prefer it was "sealed" no so many extra holes, It may really doesnt matter, modern batteries dont leak. But I consider this one:
