Maybe 63gal427 could chime in, he might be able to help you out with regards to your sping type question. He dropped his Galaxie...stance is real nice.

As far as I know my springs were stock, so I cut them.
But there is a reason why I kept the same springs and didn't go for heavy duty ones. Don't laugh......
The reason being that with a 427 and changing gears, it's a great feeling seeing the car raise the front, then drop with the gear change, then raise again through the gears. It might not be the safest way, but I like it!
